The Bethany Presbyterian Chancel Choir to Perform Theodore Dubois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ with Chamber Orchestra and Soloists

Bethany Presbyterian Chancel Choir is proud to announce an upcoming performance of Theodore Dubois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ, a deeply moving oratorio for choir, chamber orchestra, and soloists. The concert will be held on Sunday, April 6th at 3:00 PM at Bethany Presbyterian Church, offering a stirring musical meditation on the final moments of Christ’s life.

Composed in 1867, The Seven Last Words of Christ captures the solemnity and intensity of the biblical narrative. Through its expressive choral writing, lush orchestration, and powerful solo performances, Dubois’ oratorio explores the profound emotional depth of Christ’s crucifixion, resonating with both the religious and the secular listener.

Under the direction of Derek Martin, the choir will join forces with a talented chamber orchestra and feature outstanding soloists to bring this timeless masterpiece to life. The performance will highlight the interplay between the choir’s powerful harmonies and the emotive solo contributions, all underscored by the delicate textures of the chamber orchestra.
